The role of the pulmonary vascular bed in congenital heart disease.

چکیده
IFE expectancy and the degree of invalidism have been considered a function of the type of cardiac malformation in patients with congenital heart disease. When the abnormality involves a large communication between the ventricles or great vessels, however, the pulmonary vascular bed plays an important role in governing prognosis. The following group of congenital malformations are involved in this category : 1 . single ventricle without pulmonary stenosis, 2. large ventricular septal defect, 3. Eisenmenger complex, 4. atrio-ventricularis communis, 5. true truncus arteriosus, 6. aortic septal defect, 7. large patent ductus arteriosus and 8. patent ductus arteriosus associated with coarctation of the aorta. Evaluation of QRS, QTc, and JTc intervals in Congenital Heart Disease with Pulmonary Hypertension
Background Pulmonary hypertension (PH) in congenital heart disease affects the patient’s prognosis. Prolonged QRS and QTc intervals in ECG may intensify life-threatening dysrhythmia in patients. We aimed to investigate the correlation between QRS, QTc, and JTc intervals prolongation in ECG with PH in Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) patients. Mate...

While pulmonary thromboembolism is common, thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is very rare. The present case is a 35 year old woman with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, who presented with severe dyspnea and leg edema, following an earlier thrombotic event of 10 years earlier, after her her second childbearing. She also had a history of the first childbearing complicated with c...
متن کاملPulmonary blood pressure, not flow, is associated with net endothelin-1 production in the lungs of patients with congenital heart disease and normal pulmonary vascular resistance.
OBJECTIVE Endothelin-1 concentrations are increased in patients with increased mean pulmonary arterial pressure, pulmonary blood flow, and pulmonary vascular resistance. However, endothelin-1 concentrations have not been well characterized in patients with congenital heart disease and normal pulmonary vascular resistance. In particular, it is unclear whether pressure or flow is the key regulato...
متن کاملRight ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

BackgroundPulmonary hypertension (PH) in congenital heart disease (CHD) affects the patient prognosis. QRS and QTC intervals prolongation in ECG may exaggerate life-threatening dysrhythmia in these patients. We aimed to investigate the correlation between QRS, QTC and JTC intervals prolongation in ECG with PH in CHD children. Materials and MethodsIn a cross-sectional study tha...
